The Project

In 2024, Good Shepherd's  Communication team worked with the congregation to apply for a grant to bring in an artist from the Frederick Community to tell some of our stories.

For the next year, Chrissy Miller became embedded with the congregation, attending services, events, and meeting with folks who volunteered to the be part of the project.

She collected stories, photographed moments in our ongoing service to God, and has provided a collection of these snapshots in time.

As a part of the project, Chrissy has created a blog post about with those stories. Read Here

Our Story is Important

Telling our story matters because faith is not only believed; it is remembered, shared, and lived across generations. By preserving the history of our congregation, we honor the witness of those who came before us, just as our Jewish and Christian ancestors faithfully told the stories of God’s work among them. These stories remind future generations of Christians who worship here that they are part of something larger than themselves: a living legacy of discipleship, service, and hope rooted in Jesus Christ. As we remember where we have been, we are strengthened for the work still before us, continuing to spread the Good News of Christ and sharing how our lives and labor have been shaped by God’s love in this place, for the sake of those who will come after us.

Christ Teaches with Stories

Jesus said all these things to the crowds in parables, and he spoke to them only in parables. This was to fulfill what the prophet spoke:

       I’ll speak in parables;
              I’ll declare what has been hidden since the beginning of the world.

Matthew 13: 34-35
