Downtown Frederick & Baker Park Band Shell

The Annual Kris Kringle Procession is a fun event where so many folks in Frederick gather together in costume and song and march through the streets of Downtown Frederick!  The event begins at the corner of South Carroll and East  Patrick Streets in Frederick and ends in Baker Park with the lighting of the City Tree.

The Annual Kris Kringle Procession is sponsored by Frederick County Bank in partnership with Key 103 and 106.9 The Eagle  .

10,000 Meals Packed!

All generations gathered together to pack 10,000 meals to address hunger in Frederick County.

On November 3rd, the Youth and Social Ministries worked together in an effort to pack 10,000 meals for food insecure families in our community. After services, folks gathered in the community room to work together to pack the meals. It was a fantastic multi-generational event where everyone could contribute.

The meals were picked up by the Frederick Food Bank, which is operated by the Frederick Community Action Agency, where they will be distributed to the families who are struggling with food insecurity.

Good Shepherd was able to fund this project by raising over $900 through Vacation Bible School donations, plus an additional $300 came from the sale of a Jeep bed that was used during VBS as a photo booth. It was hand crafted by one of our very own members! On top of that, all of the Gifts of Love donations from the month of October went towards the meals.

Check out how together with other members of the Delaware-Maryland Synod we were able to pack 35,000 meals for hungry families all around the area!

Jesus said, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,  I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?  And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’  And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my siblings, you did it to me.’ “

Matthew 25:35-40

October Gifts of Love

In the spirit of generosity…

Our VBS Roar Jeep!

Social Ministry and Youth are partnering to pack meals to feed people in Frederick who are facing food insecurity. Our goal is $3,000 to pack 10,000 meals. That’s TEN THOUSAND MEALS! Generous contributions from families who participated in our Roar VBS this summer and the sale of our Jeep have raised $1,200 towards our $3,000 goal.

For the month of October all Gifts of Love offerings will be used to pack these meals and feel people right here in our community. If you would like to support this event, just place your donation in a Gift of Love envelope found in the pew rack. Then place the envelop in the offering plate.

Meal Packing Event

Everyone is invited to join together on November 3rd at 12:00pm (noon) in the Community Room to pack the meals. This is truly an inter-generational community event. We hope to see you!

Trunk or Treat

Saturday, October 26, 2019 4:00-6:00 PM

What is a Trunk or Treat??  It’s a trick or treating event where people hand out candy from the trunks of their vehicles.  Although it is certainly not required, many people choose to decorate or dress up their trunks or entire vehicles & themselves, to create a huge tailgating party. Cars will be lined up like a Car show in the church parking lot.  The kids will then Trick or Treat down all the trunks. This year we are also offering spaces in the church and along the walkways for people to set up.

In addition to Trunk or Treating, children and families will be able to explore our Zoofari. Zoofari is a continuation of our Roar VBS and will have lots of fun activities to remind us that life is wild.  God is good. So, come dressed in your favorite costume and collect lots of sweet treats and be reminded of the sweetest treat of all – God’s love for us.

Invite your friends to come Trunk or Treating at Good Shepherd! Everyone is welcome.

Register your Vehicle for Trunk or Treat

If you would like to hand out goodies to the children, we estimate that you will need enough for 100 children.  Vehicle set up begins at 3:00pm. We hope you will join us to help make this event a fun success!! Contact the church office to register your vehicle!
