Yesterday’s Youth Sunday was a heartwarming and uplifting service lead by our very own youth. We could not be more proud of all of them. See for yourself all the great things Pastor Dave has to say.
Hi Brian and Lisa,
Please share with the young people who participated this morning how grateful I am for their talents and willingness to lead worship.
EVERYONE did an incredible job! What a witness to our congregation (and beyond – we’re averaging several hundred views of worship each week). As I said, young people are not (just) the future of the church, they are a vital part of the church right now.
Thank you Brian and Lisa for your leadership of Youth Ministry in general and of the service today in particular.
And finally, please tell Caroline how AWESOME the editing was today. It was obvious she not only knows what she’s doing, but put in the effort to make worship a seamless experience for those who watched.
Christ’s peace, Pr. Dave
If you missed our Youth Sunday service, you can view it – along with other previous worship services on our YouTube Channel. If you subscribe, you will never miss another!
Just because we are not together physically does not mean we can’t gather for food and fellowship at the Good Shepherd Palm Sunday Breakfast on Sunday April 5 from 10:00 – 10:55 am. Cook or toast or pour out of a box your favorite breakfast food and join us on Zoom as we eat and talk together. Please let Pastor Dave ([email protected]) know if you need help getting on Zoom so you can see and/or hear your church friends; it is doable for folks of all ages and abilities as several of our senior members have demonstrated by participating in our Zoom gatherings.
Everyone is invited to decorate a door or window of your home – or multiple doors and windows – with branches to celebrate Palm Sunday. This can be a fun family activity! Then, take a picture of your decorations and send it to me ASAP but by Saturday afternoon either by email ([email protected]) or text (443-261-4255), and the Communications Team and I will get all of our pictures posted on our Social Media sites.
It could be any green branch you can get. Only the Gospel of John mentions palms; the other Gospel writers talk about generic branches. This would help, despite the social distancing, to be connected as we enter into the Holiest of Weeks. (Idea from The Missionaries of the Holy Spirit)
The Caring Ministry is looking for volunteers to help us keep in touch with our Good Shepherd family members during this time of “social distancing.” We want to reach out to those who may be feeling particularly isolated because of health issues, because they live alone, or maybe they don’t have access to email or other technology to “keep in touch.”
Please let us know if you would be interested in making some phone calls, sending some cards, or texting/emailing those who have this capability.
Nothing fancy–just something to let people know we’re thinking about them and that we care. Don’t we all need this right now!
We are going CAMPING!! Calling all people interested in spending some time in the glory of God’s creation! Anybody is welcome to join in on Good Shepherd’s camping trip this Spring. Please reserve your campsite or rustic cabin at Gambrill State Park. Campsite 25 has already been reserved and will have group activities and meeting up around there. There will be the opportunity to meet up during the day if anybody isn’t up for spending the night.
We will meet at the Panera Restaurant on Route 26 East/ Liberty Road (1700 Kingfisher Drive for your GPS). Order your lunch when you arrive and join the group. After lunch we will visit the new Walkersville Public Library. If you have any questions or would like to drive with someone from the church parking lot to Panera and the library, please contact the church office at [email protected] or call (301) 663-3344.
For young people in grades 6th-8th and their friends. FreeRide is a fun retreat for middle school youth. It is a weekend of service projects, faith-filled discussions and friendship building. The retreat costs $150, which includes programs, lodging, meals, activities, and a t-shirt. For more information, talk to Brian or Lisa.

“Total destruction.” These are the words used over and over to describe the effects of a direct (and lingering) hit by Hurricane Dorian on the Grand Bahama Island and the Abaco Islands. And Dorian continued its devastation in the Carolinas. The full extent of the loss of life is not yet known, but heart-rending stories are already starting to emerge.
