Blessing of the Animals! 10/10

10/10/2021 at 3pm, Blessing of the Animals at Good Shepherd Lutheran ChurchIt’s my first Annual Blessing of the Animals at Good Shepherd!  We’ll gather with our four-footed companions at 3:00 on Sunday, October 10 on the church lawn.  In previous Blessings of the Animals, I’ve blessed  lots of dogs, a few cats, a gerbil, a gecko, and a 250 pound hog, among others of God’s creatures.  There’s plenty of room on the lawn for more and different representatives of God’s creatures to join us!

Members of the congregation and the community are invited to bring their pets for a short, informal service and an individual blessing in the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi.

Church Directory

Are You Ready? Look this way! CLICK!

We are creating a new church directory for staff and members. It is even easier than before! However, we need your help. Volunteer opportunities are available. Stop by the table in the Narthex on Sundays.

We’d love to see you and your family in our directory. And what’s more, Lifetouch is including a complimentary 8×10 photo for each family in the directory!

How to Schedule

Families must schedule a time for their photo appointment. You can schedule appointments online Monday through Saturday. On Sunday the online scheduling site will be closed, but a paper sign up sheet is available before and after the services at the church.

The photo shoot appointments are offered from 1:30pm until 9:00pm on the following dates:

  • Monday, March 16th
  • Tuesday, March 17th
  • Wednesday, March 18th

Scheduling tips: Please note that families of 6 or less will only need one time slot, while families of 7 or more will need additional time. Staff images will be taken at the same time of their family appointment.

Upcoming Events in January

The Bible: An Owners Manual

Wednesday, January 29th @7:00 p.m.

Pastor Dave is teaching a fun and fundamental course called “The Bible: An Owner’s Manual” in the Community Room. In this study, participants are learning why there are 66 books in the Bible and about the many translations available today. Also covered is the exciting story of how people risked their lives to bring the Bible into English. After six weeks, participants will be more familiar and comfortable with the Bible. This course is ideal for those new to Bible study as well as for “veterans” who want to know more about the most important book in the world.

Questions are encouraged in this study; much of the class is based on questions asked by those who attend. Pastor Dave learns new stuff every time he teaches this course – and he’s been teaching it for over 15 years!

See or e-mail ([email protected]) Pastor Dave for more information or to let him know you’re coming. But you don’t need to register, just show up in the Community Room!

Installation of Pastor Dave

January 5th, 3:00pm

To quote Pastor Dave, “I do not need to be installed to work.” Well, it is time to make it official. We have scheduled Pastor Dave’s installation by Bishop Gohl for January 5th at 3 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there as we welcome him to our family!
