Preschool

Good Shepherd Preschool

Good Shepherd Preschool began as an outreach to the community by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in 1960. It is approved by the State Department of Education and has approximately 100 students. Programs are approved for two-year olds, three-year olds and Pre-K.

Our Philosophy

Good Shepherd provides an opportunity for a child to develop intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially within a nurturing and loving environment. The program is designed to develop the whole child, using each child’s talents, interests, and abilities. The school serves as a bridge between the home and school, providing one of the first formal experiences of learning outside the home. The school provides interaction among peers and opportunities to experience differences within society and promotes the acceptance of those differences. While learning to share and cooperate with others, a child grows in self-esteem and positive self-image. Hands on experiences and creative play are essential elements for social and personal development.

Our Education

Heather Keane, Director of Good Shepherd Preschool

The school strives to stimulate a love of learning and enjoyment of school. Parent involvement is encouraged, realizing it is crucial to the success of the program and healthy growth of the child. The early childhood period encompasses a span of time during which the greatest amount of development in physical and mental growth occurs. The child will be given the opportunity to question, explore, and discover. It is a time to recognize the uniqueness of every individual and develop the social skills necessary for interacting with each other in today’s world.
